You all need to come by and see the latest works of art!  We are showcasing some awesomely cool upcycled metal art by local Rock Hillian
 (...is that a word?...)...
 Duke Baxter.
Mr. Duke makes all kinds of metal art and whimsy using
 hmmmm.....pretty much whatever he finds!
You should see this giant, completely operational bike!!!

He has made beauty from old shovel heads, broken rakes, rusty tools,
 discarded pipes, broken machinery,
and a bunch of things that we can't even begin
to figure out what they were in their former life!

These flip flops would be great on a desk, hanging on the wall,
or use them as brackets for your curtain rod~

Come see and take home a bit of coolness for your own ~
great for decorating indoors or out ~
on the desk or on the deck ~
on a post or on a wall ~
great ideas for one and all~~~!

Woohoo!  We are at the end of our third week and sales have tripled!  LOL...
Here are a few more pictures for you to peruse..

An adorable table and benches Amish made from reclaimed wood ~ topped it all off with some Wedgewood china, burlap ruffled runner, tea towels, and Southern Hospitality beverage glasses, mmm, mmm, good!
Wouldn't you just love to have one of these "Leroy Faucet Buckets"? You could use one as an ice bucket, beverage tub, as a chair side bucket for your remote and beverage, or how about in a bathroom to hold towels or extra tissue, maybe in the kids room as a toy bucket, or even on the patio or in the garden as an awesome plant holder...
oh! the endless possibilities!
and....just another glimpse of a little before, just three short weeks ago,
 now ... onto the after!~

See you as soon as you...Flutterby!  We're waiting for ya!

Wow ~ we have had one busy week!  More and more people are discovering that cool new shop on Main Street and that makes us smile REALLY big!  Thanks to all who have recently discovered us and to those faces we already recognize as "regulars"!

There are a few new pieces out on the floor and some cool new accessories as well.  Let's see if I can share a few pics for you...here goes...

Look at these cute new critters!  Big ole' hoot owl and adorable hand carved critter pencil cups with colored pencils ~ (and they smell like a campfire...weird that we actually smelled them, but, just sayin.)

More critters...Owl Tea Towel...too cute for words
Bird cages (that you can take the bottom out and insert your favorite sumpin' sumpin'...
like a candle or tea cup or plant or ... sumpin')
~ Awesome wood art ~
Great little desk ~ Annie Sloan Chalk Paint...of course!

Beautiful mahogany Federal style Serpentine sideboard ~ another great piece using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

And no table is complete without your own "Southern Hospitality" beverage container, AND it comes with a screw on top so you can have your own "to go" or "travel mug"~

There's no place like "home" ~ ahhh

It's time to Flutterby!

We will be posting our upcoming class schedules the end of next week ~ be on the lookout!  AND... we have a really, really, REALLY big surprise to announce next week also....yippee!!!

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Oh my!  You need to come in and check out the new pieces that we have just put out on the floor ~  We love our Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!

We are working on some adorable "garden chairs" ~ add a bit of quaint and whimsy at the same time with a colorful garden chair to hold your favorite pot of flowers.  The garden chairs add a colorful, artistic element to your garden and make a great conversation piece, too!  Pick one up for yourself and another as a wonderful pick me gift for a special someone.

Hey Alli....where are the pictures??  Gotta start a fire under that girl....

Experience SC Festival was tonight ~ lots of people were on Main Street enjoying the arts, music, food and culture of South Carolina...and...lots of them stopped by for a look-see at Flutterby.  Some amazing people visited the store tonight and became our newest friends!  One new friend, Linda, even has the same birthday as mine! (we are sisters from another mother...lol)

I am once again pleasantly surprised and blessed by the outpouring of support and well wishes from complete strangers that have become almost immediate friends and confidants.  I can't say it enough, but thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone and I can't wait to see how Flutterby grows because of all of you!  xoxo

A nice little accessory shipment arrived today.  I think Alli took some pics....  And this really nice man I met since the shop opened wanted to talk to me about some cool woodworking he does.  He lives in an historic home near old town Rock Hill and was telling me of his love for history and reproductions and wanted to know if he could bring in a piece to show me.  So, up he drives in his truck with this sixteen foot long joggling bench!!! Just like one you would have seen back in the day in Charleston or Savannah where young people would sit and bounce and rock while courting the apple of their eye.  It is awesome! ~ and just in time for the Experience SC Festival in old town Rock Hill Saturday night, September 1st from 4-9:30 where artisans from all over South Carolina will be featuring what they love about this state...food, music, culture, and art.

So, make sure you stop in and say "hey"~
take a bounce on the joggling bench ~
get yourself a glass of some good ole' sweet tea ~
maybe pick up a little piece of the south to take home ~
or maybe even win one of our sweet door prizes!

Doesn't matter when, doesn't matter why,
only thing that matters is that you just Flutterby!
  See y'all....

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Well woohoo!  ~  We survived the first three days of being officially open!  Lots of familiar faces popped in and even more new ones!  Made some great new contacts, gathered lots of cool information, and another store in town loved our displays so much that they want us to build some for them...how stinkin' cool is that!!!  God is great...life is awesome.  Come on down to Flutterby ~ :)

Monday, August 27, 2012

Oh my stinkin goodness ~ I suppose it would be a good idea to give you the store address so you can actually find it!  LOL  sorry :o

Stop in for a visit at:  216 East Main Street, downtown Rock Hill, SC ~
Our hours are Monday ~ Friday 10 ~ 6
Thanks to everyone for coming in the shop on opening day to have a look-see and say "hello" ~ got to see lots of friends and made a bunch of new ones!!!  We are expecting another shipment of really cool accessories this week and have some awesome pieces that are almost ready to put out on the sales floor.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the support and well wishes and blessings!  As my dear friend would say...love you all muches!

So, this is a view of the still not quite so organized chaos.....

Below is one of the photos that will be in the "Old Town Newsletter".  They came and did an interview, so Alli and I quickly made a display with some of our inventory.  Some new, some vintage, some "Annie Sloan Chalk Painted".
Love this black and white Alli took of  a display with vintage milk and coke bottles and some cool wire baskets on a twenty foot ladder we got from an old barn....awesome!

The display below isn't nearly finished, but does show a vintage washstand that was just handpainted and waxed using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint...love the owl tea towels...and the crochet owl purse makes a cool plant hanger!

Below is a view of "Inspiration Station".  You can sit and have a cup of joe while you peruse books and magazines or talk with me (Sherri) or Alli to figure out how some cool ideas for stuff you have at home.  Sign up for an upcoming "DIY Diva" class, demonstration class, or a "Wee Can Do It" kids craft class.  Sounds like a fun time!!!

That's one realllllly tall ladder!

We open in just one more day!  Can't wait for Alli to post more pics tomorrow!  The store is looking awesome!!!

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Okay...one more week to go before we open the doors!!!  Lots to do in the next 7 days... our resident photographer should be posting pictures any day now ~ Can't wait to share all the goodies with everyone.

Experience SC Festival is from 4-9:30 on September 1st in downtown Rock Hill.  All kinds of SC history, culture, music, food, and a little sumpin-sumpin from Flutterby, too!  While you sip on your sweet tea or lemonade you can browse the store and take home a little somethin' southern ~ and don't forget to get a raffle ticket for the cool wine bottle tree give-away!

Demonstration, DIY, and Krafty Kids class schedules will be posted September 10th ... (or maybe a bit sooner...we'll try!)

Monday, August 6, 2012

We got some awesome stuff in today and more coming this week!  Displays are being built, items are being tagged, things are being organized, it's all coming together!  Only 20 more days until grand opening!

Hey everyone, I have this idea.  I want to compile a list of South Meck alumni that are into artsy/creative/marketable really cool stuff and would like to be able to dedicate some space in the shop as the "SMHS Wall of Fame".  I have an antique door that will serve as part of the SMHS Wall of Fame display and would like to have signatures on the door of all alumni that have items for sale in the shop.  Doesn't matter what year you were there and it can also be open to family and friends of alumni.  Later, I would like to host a SMHS toasting party in honor of the mega creative people that South Meck popped out.  So, if you have something creative that you would like to share...photography, drawings, sculpture, paintings, writing, crafts, cookbooks, accessories, baby clothes, jewelry, pottery, calligraphy, bottle art, sewing, smocking, embroidery, needlework, hand-painted items, something you have built, written, or created ... stop by or give us a call ~ let's give an all new meaning to the word networking!

Oh! The sign-guy is stopping by tomorrow...wish us luck!

Sunday, August 5, 2012

Look for for pictures coming soon of the store as we get it organized for our opening date of August 27th, 2012!  So.....how excited are you!!!!  We can hardly contain ourselves...but, we must sleep now because tomorrow is a busy, busy day!

Flutterby Interiors offers new, vintage and a wee bit of consigned furniture and lots of accessories for your home. We search for all kinds of treasures and some of them we redesign, upcycle, and repurpose into really cool stuff that you are going to want for your own! Oh, and we really love to use "Annie Sloan Chalk Paints" on our hand-painted pieces.

At Flutterby we have an interior designer and an artist on staff to help you add or recreate beauty in your home. We can help you select from our awesome inventory or take a look at what you have at home and then redesign, upcycle, or repurpose your stuff into even way cooler stuff!

Need to get inspired? Sit in one of our comfy chairs while sipping your coffee or tea and get creative. We have a great selection of magazines, design books, idea books, notepads, and sketch pads for you to peruse and take notes while chilling in our inspiration station.

Sign up for one of our DIY Diva classes, attend a make-it and take-it class or just sit back and take notes during one of our trash to treasure demonstrations. The kids will enjoy the "Wee can do it" Saturdays-are-fun-days demos, too.

Come join us for one of the downtown gallery and cool store crawls...perhaps a little wine and cheese...maybe coffee and biscottis...a little tea and crumpets...cider and popcorn... hot chocolate and brownies...or some summertime lemonade and cookies...always something going on at Flutterby.

Doesn't matter when, doesn't matter why, all that really matters is that you just...Flutterby!
